Janger Banyuwangi, also known as Banyuwangi theater or Damarwulan, is a unique folk art. Using the Banyuwangi regional language, namely the Osing language, Janger Banyuwangi is recognized as an intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture and Education. This art is not only entertainment but also a form of preserving Banyuwangi’s cultural identity.

Gandrung Dance is a typical Banyuwangi dance whose performances always amaze the audience. Even though it was originally danced by men dressed up as women (Gandrung Marsan), the male Gandrung dance disappeared in 1914. Gandrung has become a valuable heritage that continues to be guarded and preserved by the people of Banyuwangi.

The Seblang dance, It can only be seen in Bakungan and Olehsari Villages, Glagah District, Banyuwangi. According to residents in Olehsari Village, this ritual is carried out to clean the village and ward off evil, so that the village remains safe and peaceful. Seblang is an integral part of community life which makes cultural diversity a common strength.

Barong Banyuwangi is not just an ordinary artistic performance, but is an important part of cultural identity. There are various variants of Barong such as barong jaranan, barong catan, barong kumbo and barong prejeng, but Barong Kemiren is appointed as the main icon. The government recognizes Barong Kemiren as the oldest and most important culture in Banyuwangi.

Kebo-Keboan is ceremony in the villages of Aliyan and Alasmalang depicts the gratitude of the people of Banyuwangi for the harvest. In Alasmalang Village, Kebo-Keboan is not only a traditional ceremony, but also a tourist attraction. The diversity of these ceremonies shows how arts and culture can be integrated with everyday life.
